The lawyers

Three lawyers, two sides, one rule

Gisela and Marzena work with tenants. Rafiq works with owners. A lawyer here never works on both sides of one dispute.

    Founding partner

Gisela started the firm so people with a notice could talk to a lawyer in their own language before the dates run out. She leads the work on evictions and fair housing.

  • Marzena Kowalczuk with long gray hair and a dark jacket, smiling outdoors

Marzena reads leases the way a tenant has to live with them. She leads the work on deposits, leases and belongings.

  • Rafiq Chowdhury smiling in glasses and a pale blue shirt

    Partner, owners

Rafiq works with owners only. He writes notices that hold up, files, and appears at the hearing.

How we keep it fair

Two sides, kept apart

A housing dispute has two sides, and each deserves a lawyer who is only on theirs.

Before we take a case we check whether we already work for the other side. If we do, we say so and send you to someone else. Files for tenants and for owners are kept separate, and the lawyers on each side don't discuss them.

At every first call

  • We ask who the other side is

  • We check our files before giving advice

  • We tell you if we cannot take the case

Not sure who you should talk to?

Tell us what is going on. We will send you to the right lawyer, or to someone else if we are not it.
